Stand Tall, Sit Powerfully: A Trauma-Informed Dance Workshop for Survivors
Date: Saturday April 30th
Time: 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Location: All The Way Up Studio, 2910 Stoner Ct. #6, North Liberty IA 52317 (Google Maps)
The Rape Victim Advocacy Program and All The Way Up Studio are proud to partner up during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to provide a free dance workshop for survivors. Participants will have the chance to reconnect with their bodies and gain confidence through movement and dance. They will also learn how to integrate the use of props, like chairs and bandanas, in their movement (these items will be provided by the studio). No previous dance experience is required. Instructors will guide participants through empowering dance techniques, teach a short routine, and allow time at the end of the workshop for participants to independently or collectively play with some of the things they learned. Participants are asked to bring a pair of clean, comfortable shoes or they may dance in socks or barefoot.
Advocates will be available during and after the workshop.
Pre-registration for this event is required and the class will be limited to 15 participants. To register, or if you have any questions about the event, please contact Ashley Lindley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
