The Rape Victim Advocacy Program (RVAP) was established 45 years ago as part of the civil rights movement to combat the use of gender and sex as weapons of oppression.

Although human trafficking may take place in the cracks in society, it is more prevalent than one may think. Unlike the myth that most trafficking victims are illegal immigrants, roughly 60 percent of the victims are U. S. citizens.

In honor of RVAP's 45th Anniversary we would love for you to join us at our first annual Gala on May 3rd.

A few years ago, I read a statement that stopped me in my tracks:

"Gender violence is one of the world's most common human rights abuses.

This morning, Education Secretary Besty DeVos announced a new Title IX rule process and criticized the "Dear Colleague" letter, which was issued by the Office for Civil Rights in 2011, requiring schools nationally to make significant improvements to the way they responded to sexual violence.

C-a-i-t-l-i-n C-a-r-i-s, little Caitlin rehearsed in her head as she walked along the narrow sidewalk during recess outside of Longfellow Elementary school. As she repeated her name once more, little Caitlin realized her last name was pronounced with the word “care.

The support of a community can make a world of difference in the way a person heals after experiencing a traumatic event and experiences growth through the healing process.

Sexual violence is an issue that impacts all of us and it takes the entire community to stand up against it.
